Today we're highlighting Juju from the Jersey Shore, who talks about guys choosing non-virgins over virgins. If you want to tell your story, go to our submission form. You can find all our V-Card Diaries here. Tell us about yourself:
I am a High School senior; Class of 2012!!! WOOT WOOT! I plan on going to college and becoming a psychologist. I really want to help mentally challenged people or people with illnesses. They are human, equals and we should love them, despite their sicknesses or brain functions, you know? By the way, I am a virgin and I plan on waiting until I am married.
How do you define virginity?
You know what? I've sat here for hours trying to come up with a politically correct or educated way to define virginity. I guess it's whatever you want it to be. Personally, I feel as if a virgin is someone who has NEVER been penetrated BY A PENIS.
Tell us your story:
I am a virgin. I first off want to say, it is hard. There are soooo many temptations and societal pressures. Pressures from "friends," boys, even family. I would like to wait until I'm married. I want my husband to have all of me, unused, untouched. I feel like I owe that much to him... Being abstinent is one of the hardest things to live out in today's society. People often have this screwed up perception about virgins, that we are too afraid or naïve or that we cannot find that right one, which is bogus.
Any thoughts on virginity in our society?
Society praises sex. Society puts a lot of "shine" on sexual things. Sex sells. Virgins do not get as much praise as they should—not saying that non-virgins are any less than virgins. But, virginity should hold more value. Nowadays guys would choose the non-virgin over the virgin, which I find completely outrageous. Society constantly tries to find ways to down or bash the virgins and it should not be that way.
