I'm a 22-year-old female college senior living in Iowa.
How do you define virginity?
Penile-vaginal penetration, I suppose. But that's just a personal definition for myself. I think virginity varies from person to person, especially if someone does not identify as heterosexual. I also believe someone can still consider him or herself a virgin even if they were raped, because losing your virginity should be a personal decision.
Tell us your story
I lost my virginity last summer when I was 21. It's not that I hadn't had any opportunities before that, but I wanted my first time to be with the right person. I recognized this guy as the right person almost immediately, and we had sex three days after we met. He was also a virgin, and like most people's first times, ours was a bit awkward, but we laughed it off and tried again. I experienced no pain or bleeding. Afterwards, we just laid there and talked for hours. I'll always remember that night as fun and romantic.
