Today we're highlighting Tatyahna in San Francisco, who didn't try PIV sex again for a year and a half after her first time. If you want to tell your story, go to our submission form. You can find all our V-Card Diaries here.
Tell us about yourself:
I'm Tatyahna and I'm 22-years-old. I live in San Francisco, California and run a blog called Sad Girls Guide.
How do you define virginity?
I consider virginity as someone who hasn't had penetrative sex, but I do feel like the first time someone gives and also the first time someone receives oral sex is a big moment, maybe even bigger than when you lose your 'traditional' virginity.
Tell us your story
I lost my virginity the summer between 8th and 9th grade after a Blink-182 concert - while listening to Blink-182. It was with my then boyfriend who I had dated for ~6 months, which seemed like a huge deal to me at the time. Nowadays I don't even make it Facebook official until long after 6 months.
It took the time span of that song where they collaborated with Robert Smith and it was the painful and awkward rushed thing with half breaths and questioning faces looking at each other. I left about five minutes later and snuck back into my parents' house and went to sleep.
People at this point already thought I was having sex because there was a boy who took the same bus home as me that kissed me and touched my boobs in my garage on the walk home one day, and immediately began to tell everyone that he had slept with me.
I don't know if I felt like because people thought I was already having sex made letting my then-boyfriend pressure me more justifiable or if I truly thought I was very in love, but retrospectively I feel like I probably could have waited it out longer. I didn't have sex again for another year and a half until I felt entirely ready.
Editor's note: Full disclosure, after Tatyhana sent us her story, she did a profile of 'How to Lose Your Virginity' director Therese Shechter on her super great blog (with the best photo collage ever). All you V-Card readers should definitely check it out!
