Last weekend I was on the panel Chewing the Cyberfat: Body Weight, Size, and Sex Online with Hanne Blank and Chloe Angyal at Momentum,. This is a fantastic conference in DC and a gathering of the very top people in feminism and sexuality. Then due to a last-minute cancellation, the organizers offered me a slot to preview a portion of How to Lose Your Virginity. Needless to say, I was thrilled and a bit terrified, and the response was amazing.
Here's what one young woman had to say:
"I attended the Momentum Conference this past weekend, and saw the screening of the How To Lose Your Virginity preview, and I just really want to say that you're awesome. As someone who has dealt first-hand with the virginity movement and its damaging effects, I was fascinated and so, so thankful that there are people fighting against this awfulness. From what I saw, the film really hit home in so many ways."
One of the stars of our film, Hanne Blank, was there doing Q&A with me, and I unleashed my inner fangirl chatting with former Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders, who is also in the film. She was on fire at the conference! You can watch her on a panel with Lara Riscol and Esther Perel.
Just a reminder: We're getting amazing feedback for our work-in-progress, but it won't get finished without your support. Please consider backing the project on Kickstarter. Thanks!
An occasional roundup of comments from the Trixie Films YouTube channel*:
Antifeminazi: Feminism is the most loathsome and phoniest Marxist fraud ever devised. Along with feminism comes censorship, infanticide, secret police brutality, presumption of guilt, class/gender conflict & brutality, subversion, state supremacy and destruction of individual civil rights. Feminism is merely communism in disguise like the "wolf in sheeps clothing" and will always produce the opposite of what it claims. Feminists are inherently duplicitous, criminal authoritarians posing as "liberators".
AdMAHraMeR: Humans have instincts. Some are more dominant than others. One of these instincts is to follow and respect taller, broader, louder things over smaller, weaker, quieter things. In this case, the man is the former and the woman is the latter. It is rather unfortunate that people follow their instincs rather than use their brains, but that's just the way things are, and there's not much you can do to change this. Apart from jump in front of a horse.
Make me a sandwich.
saruji: stfu about feminism already! there are bigger problems in the world! Its a choice obviously if your too dumb to figure that out, cut your wrists and take a bath, bc you too stupid for this world.
